a blizzle from the pizzle This was originally posted by me, 4/29/03: Hey everybody. You haven't heard from me in a while because school's been beating me with me with a baseball bat, but I only have one week left of school, possibly ever. Scary, huh? Of course, there is still exams to come. I know Erik Horn has been pretty busy as well, plus his internet's on the rag so please forgive the site's speed bumps this past week. Anyway a couple things to share with you. 1. This past weekend I won the Erik Bellanger award, a yearly award given to the best cartoonist in the Daily Texan in honor of the late of Erik Bellanger, a former Texan cartoonist. It is my first award for comics work so I was very pleased to receive it and I thank the Bellanger family for the support. 2. The Gary Condit ... strip that came out last week did indeed come out after September 11th. The joke was that no one cares about Condit anymore (since it's "postsepelev") so he can go around killing more people and no one would care. I was a little confused by [another's interpretation] so I thought I'd clear up any confusion that anyone else had (man as I type this in the UT computer lab, the guy right next to me reeks). 2.5. This Saturday is free comic book day so go to www.freecomicbookday.com to learn more! It's the day after X2 opens which I'll be going to ALONE like a HUGE DOUCHEBAG because Erik Horn and Quickie bailed on me. Oh, I'll take this out in blood. If anyone else in Austin is going to see X2 opening night at the Alamo Drafthouse, let me know so I can tag along like the pathetic loser I am. For posterity's sake, m'lady Sweet C went with me to X2 and it was awesome. - Mac B 07/05/06 |
