Here's what I wrote when the site first appeared back on October 8th, 2002:

Hey folks, Mac Blake here, creator of bill and erik, and I'd just like to extend a warm welcome to billanderik.com. This joint has been in the works for some time now and it feels pretty damn good to have it up and running and especially after Erik H did such a good job with the design work (damn that kid's smart... and sexy). Be sure to check back in every weekday for a new comic strip and every Friday for a big-ass color strip! Damn that is hot. We’re starting out with a mixture of older and newer strips (The strip began in the The Daily Texan in Sept. 2000) so Bill may look a little off.

Above is the very first Bill and Erik that appeared in the Daily Texan, the student newspaper for the University of Texas. This was an attempt at an intro strip, a “how do you do and shake hands” kind of thing. I was still figuring out how to draw bill and erik at this point so they both look very different from their current appearances, bill especially. The who’s the boss joke continues next strip. Comedy is repetetion, ha ha (groan). See'ya later.
